January 1, 1948 Arab Murder, Mayhem, and Massacre “The British authorities tonight issued a communiqué praising the conduct of the Arab auxiliary police and the Arab Legion troops present when forty-one Jews were beaten to death with clubs and scrap iron in the refineries in Haifa after the Jewish bombing yesterday.
