“Attacks by Arabs on Jews and Jewish-owned shops drew reprisals and gave  Jerusalem a day of turmoil. The trouble began when Arabs stormed out of the Walled City and went on a rampage in the Jewish business area to the west.  They burned stores in Julian’s Way and Mamilla Road.

(1). Jews massed in Zion Square (2) and swarmed toward the trouble center, but were checked by a police cordon at Princess Mary Avenue.  On the map at the right Jerusalem is shown at (A).  Disorders were also reported at Ramleh, near Lydda and between Jaffa and Tel Aviv (B) and at Safad (C). ”
