November 10, 1938 Kristallnacht

The day after Kristallnacht Emanuel and Leo Blumenthal left their homes in Frankfurt, Germany, to view the destruction of the prior day. They saw a crowd by an apartment house and learned that a Jewish man had committed suicide. At that moment they were seized and taken to Buchenwald. Emanuel Blumenthal and his brother Leo were incarcerated in Buchenwald but Emanuel’s wife, Klara, secured their release on November 28.
