[Ibrahim Pasha, the 1831 Egyptian conqueror of Palestine] “left behind him permanent colonies of Egyptians at Besian, Nablus, Irbid, Acre, and Jaffa. Into Jaffa alone, “at least 2,000 people have been imported.”
