The Australian representative to the UN, Mr. McIntyre:
“ … While the return of the refugees to Palestine was desirable from every point of view, it was very possible that in many cases such a return would not be wholly in the interests of the refugees themselves. It might perhaps be better if the refugees were compensated for the losses they had suffered and were permitted to settle in neighboring Arab countries.”
