“The pressure of the U. S. upon the Arabs to make peace with Israel stems from American fears concerning the fate of the Middle East in the event of a third World War. This argument which is perhaps correct from the American point of view is just the reason which causes us to postpone making peace with Israel because we, the Arab masses hope that we should exploit any international situation in order to clean Palestine of Israel, so that the wedge which the U. S. has thrust between the Arabs will be liquidated.”
