“The main item of interest is undoubtedly the arrival of Arab bands from outside Palestine. The figures have varied considerably, but though that they can be put at between 1,000 and 1,500. They are almost certainly members of Fawzi Quanqi’s Yarmuk Division, to which reference has been made in previous newsletters. Contrary to numerous rumors, however, Fawzi himself has not entered Palestine. He has constantly stated that he has no intention whatever of returning to this country like a thief in the night as the head of a rabble, and that he will come when preparations are complete and he can do so openly as a soldier.”
