September 26, 1937 British district commissioner for Galilee Lewis Yelland

The British district commissioner for Galilee Lewis Yelland, after attending Sunday services at the Anglican Christ Church in Nazareth, was gunned down by four Arabs. His assassination caused Britain to respond by outlawing the Arab Higher Committee and the arresting of its members.
