May 1945 British Restrict Jewish Immigration
“Out of the 75,000 immigrants allowed under the White Paper some 66,000 have, at the moment of writing (mid-May, 1945) arrived in Palestine; four thousand certificates are distributed; three thousand are in course of distribution; and three thousand are still in the hands of the Government.” (e.g. 1940, Winston Churchill became Prime Minister of Great Britain and made no attempt to increase the “quota” of Jewish refugees eligible to enter Palestine.)
