TEL AVIV, Palestine, April 12 (AP)-The Zionist General Council approved today the long-debated military accord between the Haganah and Irgun Zvai Leumi, terrorist organization.
The agreement provides only for military coordination. No change was made in the Irgun Zvai Leumi political program, which is at variance with that of the Jewish Agency for Palestine.
Under the accord, Irgun Zvai Leumi retains its military structure but comes under the command of the Haganah to unify fighting strength. The agreement specified that Irgun Zvai Leumi take no independent military action.
This provision was interpreted to mean that the extremist group could not attack the British as part of its own policy. It could carry out such attacks only if authorized by the Haganah command.
Immediately after the meeting American delegates to the Zionist Council left for Lydda airport to return to the United States for the United Nations sessions on Palestine.
