Arab Denies U.S. Warship Shelled Coast, Associated Press, San Francisco Chronicle, July 1, 1948.

CAIRO, June 30 (AP)-Abdel Rahman Azzam Pasha, secretary general of the Arab League, said tonight Syrian officials were mistaken when they accused an American warship of shelling Arab positions in Al Barwa along Palestine’s northern coast.

Muhsen Al Barazi, Syrian minister of the interior, said Monday his government had protested to the U. S. against intervention in a(??) Arab-Jewish battle at Al Barw(??) by a U. S. warship. He said it was a vessel which the U. S. had place(??) at the disposal of Count Folke(??) Bernadotts, United Nations mediator for Palestine.
