April 27, 1948 British Restrict Jewish Immigration to Palestine

558 Refugees Intercepted

THE SHIP, KASTEL NAKHSHON, A FORMER FRENCH CRAFT WITH 558 IMMIGRANTS ABOARD, WAS BOARDED BY THE BRITISH LAST NIGHT, BUT THE FIRST TWO SAILORS WERE THROWN OVERBOARD AND SLIGHTLY INJURED.  THE SECOND BOARDING ATTEMPT SUCCEEDED.

Jewish refugees showed fight but finally were overwhelmed and deported to Cyprus today after their 500-ton trawler was intercepted by the British Navy.
