670 The Temple Mount

Jewish Temple Denial

There are noteworthy exceptions to the post-1967 trend. For example, Palestinian archeologist Dr. Marwan Abu Khalaf of al-Quds University has noted that a Christian pilgrim called Arculf, who spent nine months in Jerusalem around the year 670, wrote that “[o]n the site where the Temple once stood” a mosque had been erected by the Muslims. But these exceptions are few and far between.

Whatever serious Palestinian scholars may think about such matters, most are reluctant to buck the party line in public.
