1579 Ottoman Sultan Murad III

The Ottoman sultan, Murad III, ordered the execution of all the Jews in the empire. Only after his Jewish minister Solomon Ashkenazi convinced him to cancel the order were the Jews saved.

It is believed that Murad III’s mother was a Jewish woman that was forced to accept Islam, and he had many Jewish advisers like Solomon Ben Yahish that helped the Ottoman to form an alliance with England.
