Oil Lamps with Greek Inscription

“The light of Christ shines for all” reads the inscription on this Byzantine oil lamp and dozens like it found throughout Palestine, but especially in Jerusalem. The Greek inscription, Jodi Magness suggests, indicates the lamps were lit during the Ceremony of the Holy Fire in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, in Jerusalem.
