October 29, 1956 Egypt – Fedayeen bases

October 29, 1956 Islam Says No to Jewish Homeland and State of Israel

Egypt

Israel struck out to destroy the Fedayeen bases.  Documents and equipment found in Sinai corroborated Israel’s fears that a large-scale invasion of Israel was planned.

The target date for the all-out attack was March 1957, captured documents revealed, while preparations for it had been made since 1955.

The Israel Foreign Ministry, while announcing security measures to eliminate the Egyptian Fedayeen bases in the Sinai Peninsula, said also:

“Israel seeks relationship with the people of Egypt based on mutual respect of rights, free from the threat of attack on its citizens, blockade, and of interference with its communications whether by land or by sea.”
