Israel Offers Peace

Ambassador Abba Eban before the U.N. General Assembly:

“The Government of Israel feels that the only answer to this situation is the establishment of peace between Israel and Egypt by direct negotiations between the two countries and it notifies the General Assembly that it would welcome the immediate opening of negotiations to that end for which it is prepared forthwith to send representatives for discussions with Egypt.  Israel would also welcome similar negotiations with the governments of other Arab states.”
