Azzam Pasha, Secretary General of the Arab League:
“There will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre which will be spoken of like the Mongolian massacres and the Crusades.” One week after the beginning of hostilities, the Security Council issued the first of several cease-fire orders which were accepted by Israel and rejected by the Arabs.
