June 30, 1948 Count Bernadotte Proposes Federal State in Palestine

Count Folke BernadotteCount Bernadotte (e.g. U.N. Representative) has proposed a federal state in Palestine with the Jewish section under United Nations trusteeship as a permanent Holy Land settlement, a usually well-informed source said, according to United Press.

The source added that U. N. trusteeship officials would prevent illegal immigration into Palestine.  Bernadotte, he said, believes this would guarantee the Arab nations against any attack by “Zionists.”
