July 2, 1956 Israel Offers Peace

 

The Foreign Minister of Israel told the Jerusalem Press Club:

“I should like to survey some of the basic considerations that guide our foreign policy: First and foremost comes peace.  Peace is vital for any country and nation, but is of supreme importance for Israel.  Our policy has therefore always been one of peace – peace in the world, cooperation within the United Nations with all peace-loving nations, and peace within this region of ours.”
