Jews and Antichrist, Fourteenth-/Fifteenth-Century Historienbibel
Daniel prophesies and says: The Antichrist will come from the tribe of Dan in Babylon. He will be born from the worst man and woman, and when he is conceived, the evil spirit will enter with him. He will be born and raised with him, and he will be called a son of death.
All the world will believe in him, and he will have great knowledge. He will work false signs and will find all hidden treasures. He will call himself God, circumcise himself and call himself Messiah. He will rebuild Solomon’s Temple, set his royal throne in it and all the Jews will run to him.
He will turn people toward him with great terror, and will draw them to himself with much gold, silver, gifts and other signs. He will kill all Christian people, and he will also kill Elijah and Enoch. They will become alive again on the third day.
Then he will send his twelve messengers and seventy-two disciples into all lands to preach, and he will preach for three and a half years. He will have himself worshipped as God in the middle of the Temple, and he will draw the Jews to himself and say that he is the Messiah.
Then he will step into the footprints of Christ and say that he wants to ascend into heaven on the Mount of Olives. He will come onto the mountain with all those who believe in him, and he will raise himself up. Then the divine voice will speak in the air: “Die.” Then he will immediately die from hellish fire.
Then all the dead who were killed by the Antichrist will rise from their graves. Enoch and Elijah will also rise from death and preach the Christian faith. Then the angel of God will come and say: “A time is coming such as has never been.”
Saint Michael will stand before the people, and all Jews, pagans and Christians who are written in the book of the living God will be preserved. The angel will lift up both hands and swear by the living God that blessed is the one who waits for God’s grace and comes in those days to the Christian faith.
After the death of Antichrist, seventy days will be given to all people who wish to repent of their sins. All people who are found in the Christian faith will be blessed. For the Antichrist lays so much suffering on people and brings such martyrdom upon them that even the righteous person barely remains firm. Therefore, in his mercy and for the sake of the chosen ones, God shortens the three and a half years, so that they may better remain steadfast in the Christian faith. For if the days were not shortened, no one could be saved.
