This scene comes from a six-part predella illustrating the Paris 1290 host-desecration legend, an antisemitic accusation that Jews had abused the consecrated Eucharistic host. In this scene, the host begins to bleed after being placed in the fire, exposing the alleged act and leading to the punishment of the Jewish family in the following scenes.
