Hebrew Bible, Fifteenth Century Spain

An illuminated page from the Kennicott Bible, copied by Moses ibn Zabarah and decorated by Joseph ibn Hayyim in A Coruña, Spain, in 1476. Its colorful borders, gold ornament and animal figures make it one of the most richly decorated Hebrew Bibles surviving from medieval Spain.

Bodleian Library MS. Kennicott 1, fol. 8a. Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford.
