Hasidei Ashkenaz

 

Hasidei Ashkenaz refers to a group of pietists who were active in the Rhineland in the 12th and the 13th centuries. Tracing their lineage back to a family that had emigrated from Palestine to southern Italy in the 9th century and then were forced to leave Italy in the 10th century and relocated in the Rhineland.
