Riyad al-Sulh, Prime Minister of Lebanon, wrote to Muzahim al-Bajjy, after the agreement on the second truce:
“I am disturbed lest the spirit of impotence, defeatism and self-distrust which has gripped the Palestinians should take hold of the Arab nation, if its rulers discourage it by failure to renew the fighting.” (Quoted by Niqula al-Durr, p. 137; al-Qasri, p. 202, and Ta’i, p. 131, and published in al-Nida and al-Hayat.)
