April 1929 Mufti Rejects Chancellor’s Suggestion to Sell Maghribi District

Maghribi district, JerusalemChancellor suggested to the Mufti that the Muslims sell the Maghribi district, which would be replaced by an open courtyard for Jewish worshipers and visitors. Haj Amin responded that it may appear inhuman but the Muslims rejected surrendering any rights at the Wall which might endanger their exclusive title to the Haram.
