Nazirite Tomb, 1st century CE

Police forces at Mt. Scopus were engaged in construction activities in 1967 when they happened upon an ancient burial cave. It was excavated by the Department of Archaeology at Hebrew University. Two of the ossuary inscriptions found-

“Hanania son of Jonathan the Nazirite”

“Salome wife of Hanania son of the Nazirite”
