Crusader Chapel in the Church of St. Catherine, 12th century

Church_of_St_Catherine_BethlehemThe Franciscan Church of St. Catherine in Bethlehem was built on the ruins of a Crusader Augustinian church and monastery. The church originally included a bell tower, created by walling off part of the narthex (entrance to the church). The chapel walls are decorated with remnants of Crusader wall paintings, which were partially restored in 1950.
