Seven-Spouted Lamp

A seven-spouted lamp from Tel Dan dates to the end of Iron Age I.

In Zechariah 4, the prophet describes a gold lampstand. “The lamps on it are seven in number, and the lamps above it have seven spouts.” The word used for spouts, mutzakot (mutzakah, singular), is the noun form of the verb ytzq, meaning “to pour, flow.”
