November 1942 USA Restricts Entry of Jewish Refugees

Sufficient evidence had been received, including substantial documentary evidence transmitted though our Legation in Switzerland, to confirm that Hitler had actually adopted and was carrying out his plan to exterminate the Jews. Sumner Welles accordingly authorized the Jewish organizations to make the facts public.
