May 4, 1938 Sir Charles Tegart’s Wall
“The Haaretz reports from Arab sources that the increased extortion of money from Arabs by the terrorists must be attributed to their anxiety to flee from Palestine. They fear that a redoubled campaign will be waged against them as a result of the Anglo-Italian agreement, and the projected construction of a barbed wire fence (Tegart’s Wall) along the northern frontier has further alarmed them as it will close the outlet to Syria.”
