Israel marks the arrival of the one hundred thousandth (100,000) immigrant from the USSR since the first wave of Aliyah from this country in the late 1960s. Despite this, there are growing fears of increased “dropping out” on the way to Israel (usually in Vienna) of immigrants from the Soviet Union. At this point, one-third of immigrants have “dropped out.”
