“The police have been disarming Haganah guards on Jewish buses.  Although the police convoy buses from Jerusalem as far as Latrun on the road to Tel Aviv, they leave them unescorted from the critical twenty-mile stretch from Latrun to Tel Aviv, which passes through the turbulent Arab districts around Ramleh…

The police have been sending traffic on a long detour around the critical point, Ramleh, but the Jews object to this.  They say it gives the Arabs the impression that they can dominate the country by terrorism.”
