December 4, 1947 Protest against the Partition Plan in Cairo, Egypt

15,000 Riot in Cairo against PartitionFifteen thousand Egyptians protested the partition plan in for Palestine, in the streets of Cairo on December 4, 1947. As unrest throughout the Arab world continued and the Arab League opened a recruiting office for young, armed Arab men to join forces and fight in Palestine, demonstrators in Iraq attacked the United States Information Service office and the British Institute and Kindergarten in Baghdad. Windows were smashed, furniture destroyed and books and papers burned. Thrown rocks and stones bruised approximately twenty boys inside the school.
