Beginning in 1896, the Protestant community of Jerusalem buried its dead in the backyard of the Bishop Gobat School (today Jerusalem University College). The cemetery was in use until the end of the British Mandate.

Among those buried in the cemetery-

  • Reverend Michael Solomon Alexander, died 23rd November 1845, the First Protestant Bishop of Jerusalem.
  • Reverend Samuel Gobat, died 11th May 1879, Anglican Bishop in Jerusalem from 1846 until his death in 1879.
  • Reverend Joseph Barclay, died 22nd October 1881, third Anglican Bishop of Jerusalem.
  • Horatio G. Spafford (1828-1888), writer of the hymn “It Is Well With My Soul.”
  • Sir Flinders Petrie, archaeologist.
  • James Leslie Starkey, archaeologist.
