LAKE SUCCESS, June 26. (AP)-United Nations officials expect a major test next week on whether peace in Palestine can be maintained.

Reports reaching here indicate Count Folke Bernadotte, U. N. mediator, will offer the Jews and Arabs a long-term peace formula within the next day or two.

Bernadotte is now putting the finishing touches on his peace plan at his headquarters on the island of Rhodes.

If the formula is accepted by the disputing parties, the fighting might be called off permanently. If either one of the parties fails to accept it, then the present 4-week truce might blow up immediately.
