Rabbi Stephen S. Wise, president of the American and the Jewish World Congresses, predicted yesterday that the fighting in Palestine would end in four months. Dr. Wise returned from a conference of the congresses at Montreaux, Switzerland, aboard the Queen Elizabeth, which berthed at Pier 90, Hudson River and West Fiftieth Street, at 12-45 p. m. with 2,073 passengers.

“I will give you an astounding statement,” Rabbi Wise told reporters. “The establishment of Israel is the least of the reparations owed to the Jewish people by Christendom after the slaughter of 6,200,000 Jews by the Nazis, with virtually no challenge or dissent by the Christian powers.”

The seventy-four-year-old Jewish leader said that the strife in Palestine would cease because of the “ever-increasing protest upon the conscience of mankind.” He added- “The Arabs in Palestine no more want to fight the Jews than you want to fight Abraham Lincoln. The United Nations will come to believe that they have go to stop the fighting or they will stop themselves.”
