Charles Wyllys Elliott, President of Harvard University, wrote:
“A beautiful sea lies unbosomed among the Galilean hills, in the midst of that land once possessed by Zebulon and Naphtali, Asher and Dan … Life here was once idyllic, charming … It was a world of ease, simplicity, and beauty; now it is a scene of desolation and misery.”
